| 80’s | Started as a family business in a small shop, the Songket shop has slowly become one of the earliest Songket traders in Kuala Lumpur, among a small number of other traders. The demand for Songket has always been there since it is famous for royal occasions, or simply for weddings and other events. Although the demand is picking up, however, it was challenging to cope with the customers’ demands who always need something different and new. |
| 90’s | TehSongket moved to a more prominent place in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. The management is taken over with some strategic plan to get in touch with more customers and local Songket manufacturer. |
| 2000’s | TehSongket is actively searching for Songket suppliers and manufacturers to work with. However, demand is unpredictable. TehSongket continues in getting into the trend with vibrant colours, motifs and designs to cope with the demand. The company ventures into international markets and events such as Singaporean Malay Beauty Pageant, Indonesia and many more. We introduced diversified offerings and numbers of products including men samping, suit for the brides, the ceremonial outfit for Royal events, and many more. The offerings also cater for gears of official and casual events. |
| 2010’s | TehSongket has gone beyond the conventional Songket market. It has become one of the central and popular points for wedding outfits of various choices, colours and motifs. The team works hard by engaging with local high-profile designers and wedding planners. With the mission to make Songket a phenomenon, TehSongket has featured in a various regional TV programme. RTM 1: The show features the modern side of exclusive Songket and how Songket impact local fashion movement, especially during Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid) Astro Maya, in “Pesona Pengantin”: TehSongket features the creativity of the design and motifs to shine during the important event, such as wedding day. Hosted by the one and only Marsha Milan, the show promotes Songket beyond the border and explains the ethics in choosing, wearing, and taking care Songket. Until today, TehSongket receives visits of local and international important guests such as the VVIPs from Australia, designers from Singapore, Brunei and many more. |
